The Major League Baseball season is back and it’s going to be interesting. New rookies are looking better than some of the experienced vets, and bad teams are turning into powerhouses. Baseball has always been unpredictable, but this year all teams have been thrown into a blender due to the busy off-season and all the trades. We are expecting a exciting season and I have a feeling it’s going to be much more than just exciting.
The defending champions, Chicago Cubs, are still looking like a favorite for winning it all but the Yankees and Nationals have started to stand out as dominate teams and the Yankees already set the record for the best start in their franchise. Bryce Harper is looking like a MVP already by destroying the baseball at almost every at bat. Guy Stillwell (’19) said, “Bryce Harper is by far my favorite player and it’s always fun to watch him because he is so explosive at the plate.”
The Boston Red Sox have stood out as a great team so far and Mookie Betts has been leading their batters with a great average and a lot of RBIs have been piling up for him as well. We can’t forget about “the Judge,” Aaron Judge for the New York Yankees has came out swinging and it has been working in his favor. He has been leading the Yankees in home-runs and RBIs and it’s only his second year in the league. even though doesn’t have much experience from his lack of play in his rookie year. We have no idea how the season is going to turn out and there is no guarantee on who is going to be the MVP and even appear at the All-Star Game in Washington.
We’re all looking forward to the emotional series and all the outstanding highlights that come from diving catches, home-runs, walk-offs, and incredible showings from pitchers all across the league. There are thirty teams in Major League Baseball and every single one of them has a shot of holding up the Commissioner’s Trophy in their arms and launching champagne across the locker room. Baseball has arrived and of course, we are back in the swing of things.
