So far the NFL playoffs have left most of the NFL’s fan-base absolutely stunned. Whether it’s the Atlanta Falcons shocking all of the football community by making it into the Super Bowl with 100-1 odds, or Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers blowing a confident win in the NFC conference, or even Matt Ryan and the Atlanta Falcons lighting up the stat sheet in all categories during the whole season — we’ve all had a reason to be stunned.
The NFL fan-base is tired of seeing the Patriots and Tom Brady constantly winning over countless seasons and their dominance in the playoffs, so many fans are rooting for the Atlanta Falcons to give the Patriots some trouble in the Super Bowl this year. Grayson Crisp (‘17) was asked who he thought was going to win the Super Bowl and he said “I think the Patriots are going to take this one home because of Tom Brady, simple as that. He has been dominating the league ever since returning from injury this season and he hasn’t slowed yet.”
Hunter Hailey (‘17) was asked the same question and he said, “the Atlanta Falcons, because of their offense and Julio Jones’ capability as a wide receiver.” Dylan Peeler (‘17) has the same feelings as Hailey, saying “Matt Ryan, Julio Jones, and Devontae Freeman. You can’t beat that offense and they have been on fire recently so hopefully they can take down the Patriots.”
Many fans had faith in Aaron Rodgers to lead the Packers to a Super Bowl title after taking down the Dallas Cowboys, the team that had the best regular season and the Rookie of the Year in Ezekiel Elliot. The Atlanta Falcon’s offense had something else in mind. They handled the Packers and Rodgers in a dominate 44-21 win. The Patriots were a strong favorite over the Steelers in the AFC Championship game and those odds grew after Le’Veon Bell left in the first quarter with a groin injury and the Steelers lost their running game early in the game ,which is the largest part of the Steelers’ offense.
We’re in for a huge game this year and it’s going to be a very high scoring game thanks to both teams having a dominating offense. Hopefully the Falcons can bring home a long deserved super bowl to the city of Atlanta and Tom Brady can build his road to becoming the greatest quarterback of all time. Knowing that Tom Brady keeps his cool when he is under the big lights, and the Falcons coming in with not much experience in games like this, it will make a very interesting game and many people have picked the Falcons over the Patriots.
