Abigail Williams (‘17) is an all around sports superstar. She dominates the soccer field while also being a role model and leader on and off the basketball court. She has been in the soccer and basketball program here at East for the past four years, and she has always been a standout player and a supportive teammate.
Williams knows that she has what it takes to take her game to the next level beyond high school. When asked about her future in sports, Williams said, “I plan to play soccer at Francis Marion. It was hard to choose between soccer and basketball because I love them both, but I prefer soccer a little more.” She is fully capable of being the same dominant player at Francis Marion University like she is here at East.
This is her last basketball season, and with her last soccer season just around the corner, she commented on what she’ll miss most about playing. “I’m going to miss playing with my teammates and playing in big rival games, and I enjoy the constant support from everyone and being able to have fun every time I step on the court or field.” When her teammates were asked what they enjoy most about being on a team with her, they had nearly the same answers. Morgan Hairston (‘18) who is a good friend and soccer teammate of Williams said, “She leads by example and works hard no matter the situation at hand.” Payton Kerr (‘17) who is also a good friend and basketball teammate of Williams said, “I’m really glad to have Abigail as a co-captain because she’s really supportive of the whole team and is cool to get to know!”.
So far Williams is having another great season in basketball this year and she is getting lots of support for committing to Francis Marion. Williams is especially looking forward to her upcoming senior soccer season to give East her last best shot on the field. We wish the best for Williams in the rest of her basketball and soccer season here at East and we hope she also has a fantastic time at Francis Marion University!
