The Lady Eagles softball team is off to a solid start with three wins and only one loss. The team is creating a whole new bond and is getting used to playing with each other, as they lost 9 seniors last season.
This year’s team is especially young, with only one senior on the team.
Captain, Alex Watson (’16) said, “It’s crazy that this is my last year playing softball as an Eagle. It is even more crazy though, that I am the only senior. Knowing that I am the only one, I make sure to play hard and give it my all since I don’t get another chance after this season.”
The Lady Eagles are looking to make an even better tournament debut this year. With losing in the first round last year, they hope that the young, fresh talent can bring out the best of them this year.
Morgan Whicker (’19) said, “It’s awesome to be one of the freshman on the varsity softball team. Everyone is so nice, and we all bond together like a group of sisters. I have a really good feeling about the team this year, and I really hope I can do my part in getting us further in the conference and state tournament this year.”
With a tough conference ahead, the Lady Eagles played their first conference game against High Point Central on March 22nd.
Olivia Lamendola (’17) said, “This years team is so different honestly because we all work together really well. We hit really well and we have a bond in the defense that can make us unstoppable if we play our best. I’m really excited to see how we do this season.”
Make sure to make it to one of the softball games this season! The team is on fire, and is ready to snatch up more wins to become conference champions this year!
