Paul Blart is Back

Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 released on April 17th and was yet another success of comedic genius, Kevin James.  The film toppled expectations and did much to reinforce the success of the original Mall Cop.

The sequel to Mall Cop takes place in Las Vegas.  The plot includes Paul Blart going on vacation with his daughter before she goes off to college.  Blart runs into another bandit of criminals and does what he always does, takes action.

The main character in this film, Paul Blart, is played by the ever so versatile Kevin James.  James picked up the majority of his recognition for his role in the CBS sitcom, King of Queens, which aired for nine years.  He has also received positive critiques for his role in Grown Ups, which features the likes of Chris Rock and Adam Sandler.

The original Paul Blart: Mall Cop was extremely successful in the box office, accumulating 183 million dollars in total.  Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 looks to finish out in the same general ball park.  Both of these films were very low budget and are profitable because of this.

Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 has caused quite the stir around East Forsyth High School.  Jacob Taylor (’17) said, “I have yet to see the movie, but I really look forward to doing so.  My family are really big fans of Kevin James and we really enjoyed the first Mall Cop.  The sequel is definitely the most intriguing film currently in theatres.”

Taylor did well to highlight how this film has a great appeal to the family audience.  It is a great comedy for viewers of all ages.  Whether it eclipses the first Mall Cop or not, it isn’t too far-fetched to think a Mall Cop 3 is in the works.
