The Barden Bellas a capella group has reunited for a sequel and a chance to win the international singing competition in the new movie, Pitch Perfect 2. The film stars Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, Brittany Snow, and many others, and it will premiere on May 15th.

While the first Pitch Perfect was mainly about the Barden Bellas coming together to sing, the sequel is about the group’s growing friendships and their senior year in college.

According, to screenrant, the first Pitch Perfect was an instant hit, grossing $113 million worldwide at the box office. Also, the director, Elizabeth Banks, has returned to direct the sequel and she predicts good reviews for the movie.

Cassie Beddick (’18) said, “I can’t wait until Pitch Perfect 2 comes out, but I don’t know how it will top the first movie because it was so good with all of the great actors and the catchy music. I think what makes the movie so popular is that it’s creative and different from the normal story line you would see in films today.”

Another East student who is excited to see the film is Rachel Meares (’17). Meares said, “The first movie was really funny and I can’t wait to see Fat Amy’s character again!”

One of the many reasons why Pitch Perfect and Pitch Perfect 2 appeal to various audiences is because they send an inspirational message by having a diverse singing group come together and be successful. This displays many of the actors as role models.

According to today, Rebel Wilson, who stars as Fat Amy, said “The Bella girls are all different shapes, sizes, and nationalities. I think one of the good messages in the movie is that you’re all beautiful.”

With hilarious characters, and creative musical pieces, Pitch Perfect 2 is sure to be a success.
