She’s an Honor Roll student and a four year veteran on the Eagles women’s lacrosse team. She is Rachel Giddings (’15).
Giddings has been a key component to the Lady Eagles lacrosse team since its inaugural season in 2012. Each year, the team has improved exponentially and Giddings expects nothing less this coming season. “We had a great season last year, we just fell short when the games mattered most. We’ve got a lot of returning talent though and I expect another great year.”
Picking up a stick for the first time her freshmen year, Giddings didn’t know what to expect out of the sport. “I wanted to be a part of something new at East, and the lacrosse team beginning its first year was a great opportunity,” she said when asked what got her interested.
Besides lacrosse, Giddings is a part of the Senior Girls Club, Senior Deans, and Finance Academy here at East. “I think each club I am a part of has different responsibilities and they’re all enjoyable,” Giddings says.
Inside the classroom, Giddings says her favorite subject is English. She enjoys reading and writing and has taken AP English the past two years as a result of her love for the subject. Next year, Giddings plans to attend either North Carolina State University or University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and major in special education. When asked what influenced her decision, she gave much credit to her mother, who is currently an elementary school teacher. Giddings said pursuing business was a possibility after spending four years in Finance Academy, but helping children was more suited for her.
Whether she ends up a Tarheel or a member of the Wolfpack, we wish the best of luck to Ms. Giddings as she makes her Eagle family proud.
