The NHL has a very long season and you don’t hear much about it until the post season or when the Stanley Cup Champion Series is being played. Many couldn’t even tell you that the LA Kings won the Stanley cup in 2014.
With that knowledge most people did not hear about Jordan Staal’s fractured fibula in The Carolina Hurricanes second preseason game against the Buffalo Sabres. Staal is the Hurricanes alternate captain and one of the star players last year for the Hurricanes. He should be back to the team soon according to the Carolina Hurricanes website.
The Hurricanes are under .500 but they have played some solid hockey the past few games. They should able to turn themselves around in the coming weeks. They are near the bottom of the Eastern Conference. Despite that there is still a lot of hockey to be played this season, it is a long way till April. The Hurricanes have a small chance to win the conference. Teams like the Pittsburgh Penguins and the New York Islanders are on fire and are looking to be going to the Stanley Cup playoffs this season. The Hurricanes may be able to get a playoff berth in a wild card spot.
Who knows what will happen in the coming months. There is a lot of hockey to be played and we know this will be a very interesting season in pursuit of the Stanley Cup Championship.
